Right on Target

Finally back to outfit posts! I wore this a few days ago for a night out. This dress is the first thing I bought when I came home. It's from Target! 

I needed something to pare the necklace I bought (in a set of three) from eBay for $5 with. The first (shorter) strand are real pearls that I got as a graduation present. I like the longer with the shorter strand. They look good together.

Definitely needed a tougher shoe to pare with the dress...

Marina Rust Connor: Vogue Contributing Editor. I've long read her articles in Vogue. I think she has a lovely voice in her writing and I love her style. She's lovely. I even found her out of print novel Gatherings and bought it on Amazon!

Lauren Santo Domingo: Vogue Contributing Editor and socialite. Do you remember her wedding featured in Vogue March 2008? It was amazing.

Meredith Melling Burke: Vogue Market Editor. She's my icon because I want to have her job one day! She does floor-length really well, too...

Plum Sykes: Vogue Contributing Editor/Author. Another favorite Vogue writer of mine and a fabulous lady overall!

A Wall and An Education

So I kind of hit a wall. I had just come home and didn't really feel like talking about fashion, style, outfits, or anything of the kind. I didn't feel like talking about much, actually, and I didn't even mind hitting a creative wall.

I realized that I needed a break. A blogging, outfit creating, story telling, photographing BREAK. After more than a week, I feel all better. I'll post outfits soon enough and I'm working on a huge retrospective of my year... Until then, I've got something for you that I think is very inspiring.

I watched An Education today. Oh, man I fell hard! Not really for Carey Mulligan like most others (I did love her voice and she's such a cute girl). But the clothes on her companion, played by Rosamund Pike, took my breath away. Does anyone remember her from Pride and Prejudice?

Anyway, she's lovely. Her hair and make-up were sixties perfection! I've found a few photos for you that I loved from the movie... Check out the leopard and the statement jewelry. Aren't these shots well balanced, too?

You should definitely see this movie. Apart from the costumes, it's quite visually stunning (especially that scene in Paris) and the story is excellent!

Getting Out of Dodge

I'm moving out right now and it is really hectic. Actually, my room looks just like this picture (below), but replace that fancy Vogue-appropriate luggage with boxes full of my junk.

I was thinking of you reader, as I always am, and took some pictures to show you the debris. However, I mentioned that I was packing, as anyone knows that when you pack you try to be thorough; you try to pare down and keep the things necessary for survival.

In a few words, I packed up my camera cord. Meaning: no pictures until I get home on Saturday.

Call it what you will (a break, some time off, bad luck, laziness), I'll be using other people's photos for a bit. I do apologize for this because you don't have to waste your time on my blog. You are busy. You have a life. But you are so kind to visit SD, comment, and enjoy my content. You do not visit SD to look at other people's photos that you could search for yourself. I know this. So, in short, thanks for bearing with me.

I'm leaving NYC. I can't believe it's been nine months! Wow, time does fly, doesn't it?

I'm REALLY GOING TO MISS NYC, but I'll be glad to be home. Expecting 80 degree (and above) weather for a solid four months. Yippee!

Does anyone remember this shoot from Vogue? It's one of my favorites!

A Post for Mom and Grandma...

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers and grandmas out there!

Especially to my own mom who I can thank for my fashion sense, my smile, and other (less impressive) traits! 

And my grandmother for my name and my heirloom nose (all three of us have the same nose)! 

You two are the BEST!

They clearly have to put up with a lot from me! Ha!

Golden Girl

I'm pretty busy lately and I'll be honest that I haven't had much time to take pictures (or put on) cool outfits. Me? I'm busy studying, cramming, and packing for home. But I think every Blogger has those extra pictures or an extra post to use for times like these. So this is mine.

I wore this outfit in early January. My Richard Chai for Target skirt, old silk Gap blouse, the belt, leggies from Target, and my Gianni Binni yellows MJs.

My lion. I have two others with smaller lion heads that link in the middle, but they're at home...

He's been on the blog a few times. I just can't get enough vintage gold belts from the 80s.
